Scene 1:
On Earth

02 June 2120

I woke up in a small cubicle room, totally unaware of the time.

One hundred years after the outbreak of coronavirus, there have been two technological revolutions, one nuclear war, and several pandemics. In the beginning, people were just self-isolating for less infection, but later, humans all moved underground to avoid radiation. Humans gradually became accustomed to life in solitude and meshed themselves into an endlessly ‘data-fied’ network where they virtually recapture the world that no longer exists.

The new world is called Cocoon. It lives in every unit of data. Once you put on a helmet-shaped simulator, you can travel freely to this better virtual world where you can study, work, socialise, and trade.

On Earth, our living space is squeezed into these cubicles underground.
